If you are like me I have never heard of live blogging, but I’m here to tell you it’s fast and a lot of fun and I experienced this lighting round blogging event at the International Food Blogger Conference (#IFBC17) in Sacramento.
The IFBC is an incredible conference put on yearly and I highly recommend you go if you are a food blogger. You meet other bloggers, learn valuable blogging information, experience tours and demonstration and have fun in the host city. Here’s their site information to check out, IFBC
Let’s Talk About Live Blogging
What the heck is it and how is it done? Well hold on to your seats and get your cameras ready because it is fast. We had seven different food vendor come to our tables and present what they make and/or sell. The fun part is the vendors had 5 minutes to present to us.
During that 5 minutes, I was taking pictures and writing information down all the while getting some quick tastes of their products. IT WAS FUN.
Here are my crazy photos of the vendor’s products, remember I had to take them fast!
The Blogging Begins
Citrus from Chile presented us with these very tasty Chilean Clementine Cooler. If you would like to make one at home here’s the recipe. Because the growing season in Chile is the opposite of our growing season that means we can have fruit all year long.
I was so delighted to have Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters at our table. Chocolate Fish is located in Sacramento and is one of my favorite coffee shops; I love their Flat Whites. Today we tasted what is called “Morning Beer.” Let me explain, this coffee drink is a cold brewed nitrogen infused coffee and is served in the oh so awesome tulip cup. Want to talk about taste, first, it’s creamy, but there is no cream in it and it’s just a tad sweet. The flavor is smooth and I will say delightful. The foamy head on the coffee reminds you of a good stout beer.
Who doesn’t like strawberries? Did you know that 90% of strawberries in the United States come from California and they are available all year long? You can find more information and wonderful recipes for California Strawberries.
If you like sourdough bread but want it gluten-free then Bread Srsly is for you. We tried these soft and very tasty Sourdough sandwich rolls. You can get yours here.
Food allergies are on the rise and needs to be taken seriously in the food industry. Kristopher Harry of Allergen Inside provided information on his campaign to educate about food allergies. Mr. Harry has created an ingenious Allergy Food Alert system that helps you track foods in stores that contain products you are allergic to. Please make sure to check out Allergens Inside for more information.
If you are visiting the Shenandoah Valley Wineries in Plymouth, California make sure to stop at Vino Noceto Winery. Vino Noceto wines have always been one of my favorites and their Sangiovese is by far their standout wine. This wine is smooth with fruit and chocolate undertones and is wonderful by itself or paired with your meal.
I love, love chocolate and Endorfin Foods has some irresistible chocolate made with all natural ingredients, like coconut sugar instead of refined sugar and is dairy free. Today’s chocolate bar is Turkish Coffee and being the chocolate lover that I am this bar may become my addiction. Make sure to check out their other bars with so many unique flavor combinations. Oh, and the packaging is beautiful.
There, you just did some live blogging with me. I hope you had fun and learned of some great products on the markets. Please make sure to visit the vendor’s sites.
Love to all my fellow bakers.
Jere – what a great review of the Live Blogging! I tried to tweet but it was crazy! One of my favorites was the Endorfin Chocolate. They didn’t come to my table but I loved the sample, definitely a chocolate I’ll remember.
I’m actually finishing my second Endorfin Chocolate, savoring each little square.
