Learn: How To Store Strawberries
Don't Let This Happen To Your Berries
There is nothing worse than buying some gorgeous plump strawberries only to find them shriveled up in your refrigerator, soft, leathery, and maybe even moldy. This happens eventually, but by following this tip, learn how to keep your berries from going bad. It works like a charm!
Stop! Don't Wash Your Strawberries
Wait! Don't wash those berries yet. Washing strawberries when you are storing them will make them mushy, so wait and wash them when you are ready to eat them.
Get A Large Sealable Container
Find a large container that will hold your strawberries in a single layer. Put down a layer of paper towel, then add the berries.
Store In The Refrigerator
Next, cover the strawberries with more paper towels, seal the container and put it in the refrigerator for up to ten days.
The Condensation
The lid will form condensation on top while the strawberries are stored in the refrigerator; that's why you cover them with paper towels. Wipe off the condensation whenever you take the berries out of the box, and change out the paper towels if needed.
Rinse When Ready To Use
When stored properly, strawberries will stay nice for over ten days. And, when you are ready to eat them, rinse them under cool water.
