Broiled Cinnamon Toast is made with soft sandwich bread, butter, cinnamon, and sugar, then broiled until the edges are toasted and the topping is hot and bubbly. It’s quick to make and easy to scale up for however many slices you need.
Set your oven to broil and let it preheat for at least 5 minutes before you start making your cinnamon toast. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
Place the bread slices on the prepared baking sheet. Spread 1/2 tablespoon softened butter evenly over each slice, going all the way to the edges.
Tip: Softened butter spreads more easily and helps the sugar and ground cinnamon stick better.
Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the buttered bread, then sprinkle the sugar evenly over the cinnamon.Note: If using a cinnamon shaker: Give each slice a light, even dusting. You should still be able to see the buttered bread underneath.
Place the pan under the broiler and broil for about 2 to 4 minutes, checking at 2 minutes and watching closely after that. The toast is ready when the edges are lightly browned, and the cinnamon-sugar topping is melted and bubbly.
Remove the pan from the oven and let the toast cool for 1 to 2 minutes before serving. The melted sugar will be very hot.
Notes
Make as many slices as you need: This recipe is written for 2 slices, but cinnamon toast is easy to scale up. For 6 slices, use 3 tablespoons softened butter, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, and 3 tablespoons sugar. Arrange the bread in a single layer on a baking sheet and broil as directed.Try These Other Breads
