Ingredients

  • 4 cups mini marshmallows or, 20 large marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups cornflakes or, use Rice Krispie cereal
  • drops green food color
  • ¼ cinnamon candies optional - red mini M&M's

Instructions

  • Create a work surface with waxed paper so you can shape the wreaths easily.
  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, add the marshmallows and butter. Heat for 30-second intervals and stir well between each interval until the marshmallows and butter have melted completely and the mixture is smooth.
  • Working somewhat quickly, Add a few drops of green food coloring to achieve the desired wreath color. Stir until evenly distributed.  Start with a few drops and add more if needed to reach your desired shade of green.
  • Add the cornflakes to the melted marshmallows and stir until they are well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  • With buttered or greased hands, take 1/2 cup portions of the mixture and shape them into wreaths on a wax paper-lined surface. You can use a round cookie cutter as a guide to create uniform shapes.
  • While the wreaths are still soft, decorate them with red cinnamon candies or other small red candies to represent berries on the wreath.
  • Allow the wreath cookies to cool and set completely before serving.
  • Store the cookies in an airtight container for a week. If you need to stack the cookies, place wax paper between the layers to prevent sticking.

Notes

Variations -

  1. You can replace the cornflakes with Rice Krispies cereal.
  2. Make bows for the wreaths with strings of red licorice
