Even in our wonderful digital age, I still love cookbooks.  My cookbook cupboard boasts books from way back, good old church cookbooks, books just for ice cream, Authentic Mexican Cookery, 365 Days of Cookies and so many other books.  You will find notes, bookmarks and stained pages in my cookbooks.  I read them daily and carry them around with me for cooking and baking inspiration.

Today, I am adding a new cookbook to my cupboard, the 5-Ingredient Paleo Cookbook written by Genevieve  Jerome.  Genevieve has an excellent story about her life-changing relationship with food and why eating Paleo has become her new way of life.   She devotes her time to creating and sharing her recipes at Fitty Foodlicious and also promotes fitness and wellness.

So how did a baker who uses flour, sugar, and butter come upon a paleo cookbook?  There are several reasons; one, I love learning how to cook in different ways and learning how to incorporate new ingredients.   Lately, I have been switching up my baking to use coconut oil for butter, and honey instead of sugar, for instance.

I desperately need this cookbook because my daughter’s new boyfriend eats paleo. This means I’m going to need a super simple paleo recipe to serve when he comes over because we are NOT forgoing an amazing dessert in this house. Luckily, I now have this handy paleo cookbook that has a whole section dedicated to desserts.

I just had to try these two dessert recipes, and both were simple to make and absolutely delicious.

The 5-Ingredient Paleo Cookbook has a wealth of information and is perfect for me to learn what foods to eat and avoid and how eating paleo helps maintain a healthy food lifestyle.  Even if you are not full-on paleo, this cookbook offers delicious healthy recipes to add to your own cooking and baking recipes.

Now, who has time to spend hours in the kitchen preparing food? Maybe once a week, I can manage that, but I have a busy schedule, and this is where the cookbook delivers.  After I read through all the recipes, I realized how quick and easy they are, and I have most of the ingredients in my cupboard, so no dashing to the store.  Here is the best part: these recipes are just 5 ingredients 5 steps for preparation, and they cook or bake in a half-hour or less.  That is what I like!

  1. I also love holding a book and flicking through the pages. This one looks like it would be perfect for that. Modern ways of eating are supposed to be so much better for us and this looks like it would have some great healthy recipes. Thanks

  2. Perfect timing for me too, as my daughter has gone Paleo. (and I’m with you – I still love sitting down with a printed cookbook).
