What I really love about this slushie is how fast it comes together; it takes just three ingredients. No cooking, no fancy steps, I toss it all in the blender and go. It’s a hit with kids and adults.

I’m a big fan of this slushie on a hot day, sitting on the patio, while sweltering in the heat and wishing I had a swimming pool. It’s perfect for cooling off.

  • Type of recipe: Drink – Any time of the day
  • Cooking method: No cooking required. Some chopping.
  • Skill level: Very easy! Just blend.
  • Flavors & textures: Sweet, watermelon flavors with smooth textures.

Recipe Ingredients

A bowl of cubed watermelon, a small dish of honey, a bunch of mint leaves, and a strainer with ice cubes arranged on a marble surface.
  • Watermelon: Use fresh, ripe watermelon for the best flavor. Seedless is ideal to keep the texture smooth, but if you’re using a regular watermelon, remove the seeds before blending. Watermelon is naturally hydrating, packed with vitamins A and C, and provides the perfect base for this slushie.
  • Ice cubes: These give the slushie its refreshing, frozen texture. Adjust the amount based on how thick you like your slushie.
  • Honey: A natural sweetener that adds depth to the taste without overpowering the watermelon’s natural flavor. You can substitute with agave syrup or maple syrup, and adjust the sweetness level to your preference.
  • Mint leaves: Fresh mint leaves are optional but highly recommended as they elevate the aroma and add a burst of cool flavor. Use them as a garnish or blend a few leaves into the slushie for an extra refreshing twist.

How To Make Watermelon Slushie

Step 1. Place the watermelon cubes in a high-speed blender that will break up ice, and blend until smooth.

Step 4. Pour the watermelon slushie into glasses and garnish with mint leaves. Or, you can blend in a few mint leaves for more flavor.

Step 5. Serve immediately because it’s gonna start melting, and enjoy the refreshing drink!

But wait, if you have leftovers, you can store them in the freezer for up to 1–2 hours. Just stir or reblend before serving. Enjoy!

Tips for Success

  • Choose the Right Watermelon: For the most flavorful slushie, choose a ripe watermelon that feels heavy for its size and has a deep yellow spot on one side.
  • Experiment with Different Flavors: While watermelon is delicious on its own, consider adding other fruits or herbs to create unique flavor combinations. Some popular additions include strawberries, cherries, lime juice and zest or try some basil.
