Why You Will Love This Easter Candy
- Oreo Easter Bark - is incredibly easy to make.
- Create Your Own Family Tradition - This is a candy the kids can help make, and it's perfect to wrap up and give as a tasty gift.
- Simple Ingredients: With just three ingredients, chocolate Oreo cookies, white chocolate chips, and M&Ms; this recipe is the essence of simplicity, perfect for a sweet and festive treat.
Easter Bark Ingredients
This candy is a delightful sweet treat that comes together with just three simple ingredients.
Oreo Cookies - I used the classic chocolate Oreos for this recipe, but feel free to use any other flavors or brands. Another recipe that uses these cookies is these Chocolate Covered Ice Cream Bites.
White Chocolate Chips - I prefer the good quality of either Ghirardelli or Guittard white chocolate chips because they melt easily and provide a nice creamy base that also tastes delicious. You can also use their white chocolate bars.
M&M's - Look for the Pastel M&M's for a pretty pop of Easter color; they add a nice crunchy texture.
How To Make White Chocolate Oreo Bark
The preparation couldn't be easier; seriously, just 10 minutes is all it takes. But, you gotta let it CHILL!
- Lay out: Put a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet. Twist the cookies apart and then lay them out on the parchment paper.
- Melt: Add the white chocolate chips to a small bowl and microwave them in 30-second intervals until melted.
- Spread: Stir the white chocolate until smooth and spread on the cookies. Start in the middle and smooth to the edges.
- Sprinkle: Top the white chocolate with the M&M's.
- Chill: Place the cookie sheet in the fridge for an hour to firm up the bark. Or set it on the countertop to set (this may take several hours).
- Break: Once the bark is set, break up the bark into pieces. You can break it with your hands or use a sharp knife and cut it into pieces.
Storage and Gifting
Storing Oreo Bark - Once you break the bark into small pieces, it can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. If you want to freeze the bark, place it in an airtight freezer container for up to 6 months.
Gifting the bark - Make this bark a festive gift. Wrap the candy in cellophane bags with pretty ribbons or festive candy tins.
Getting the Kids Involved
I always enjoy having kid-friendly recipes, and this particular candy recipe is ideal for that. Get the kids involved by having them arrange the cookies. Once you've coated them with white chocolate, let the kids sprinkle on the M&Ms. I'm certain there will be laughter as they sneak a few candy pieces. It's all about making memories.
